Villa Cycladic Light

Located at the northwestern end of Santorini Island, on the quiet out skirts of the Caldera village of Oia (Ia), Villa Cycladic Light is a unique property combining traditional architecture and contemporary design. Partially carved into a volcanic pumice rock hillside, this villa for rent overlooks the world-renown village of Oia, offering a most splendid view of the Santorini Archipelago and Caldera.                                  

Essentially built on three levels, Villa Cycladic Light consists of three town house suits (main, lower and upper) each with an independent entrance. Upon arrival our guests are welcomed into a wind protected courtyard with an outdoor Jacuzzi pool, ideal for sunbathing during the day or relaxing with a view of the romantic archipelago sunset. Crossing the courtyard and through large French doors, guests enter the main dining area with arched ceiling beyond which there is a spacious lounging area furnished mainly with traditional island antique furniture. A separate, fully equipped kitchen, located next to the dining and lounging area, is the villas main kitchen. At the very back of this level is where the master bedroom, with a large double bed, is located. Carved out of the rock, this large cavern remains cool during the hot days of the summer. The en-suite white marble bathroom, with a large Jacuzzi bathtub, is also carved out of the rock.

On the lower level, carved into the cliff and exploiting all available space, there is a small yet very charming “Yposkapho” (cavern) with two double beds, one nestled under a window, and a separate, small bathroom with shower. Having an independent entrance, this romantic cavern is ideal for a couple that wishes to enjoy privacy in traditional Santorini style.

The upper level suit, accessed by external stairs, consists of a living room with a fully equipped open plan kitchen, a bathroom with a shower and a large double bed located on an open, wooden, ceiling loft. A private balcony overlooking the flooded volcanic basin is ideal for enjoying refreshments while sharing a most dramatic sunset or dawns early light as it creeps across the caldera. The arched ceiling is equipped with skylight windows for sky gazing on moonlit nights, while windows at the foot of the bed offer views of the Archipelago and the whitewashed village of Oia perched on the cliffs of the caldera.

Villa Cycladic Light, while providing the maximum of privacy and independence, is ideal for a group of up to three couples who wish to vacation together on the romantic island of Santorini.
